Operation In Southern Punjab?
Does the Government wants a civil war? Is this government working for us or our enemies?
Rehman Malik had earlier hinted Swat like operation in Southern Punjab, usually I don’t pay much attention to what he says because most times he gets carried away. But now State Interior Minister Tasnim Qureshi (PPP)has said that the situation in Southern Punjab is not satisfactory and search operation would be carried there.
JI has been warning about government plans for operation in southern Punjab. Which begs the question do we need an operation in southern Punjab and if we do what kinda operation that should be. A Swat like operation in southern Punjab will spread like wild fires and engulf whole Pakistan. But the main question is with Baluchistan at the brink of exploding, with clear proof of foreign involvement there trying to break it away from Pakistan why Government is busy fighting the so called Taliban.
Here are the news reports.
Search operation to be carried out in Southern Punjab: Tasneem Qureshi
LAHORE: State Interior Minister, Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi has said that the situation in Southern Punjab is not satisfactory and search operation would be carried there. Talking to media men after visit of Central Jail Lahore, he said, after the incident of Mian Channu, the search operation would be carried out in different areas of Southern Punjab and law enforcement agencies are working day and night to unearth anti state elements. Special anti-terrorism force would be setup in the Province who will keep strict vigilance on anti state elements, he said. Answering to a question, he said, the salaries of Police employees of Jail would also doubled and he would request the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in this respect.
Malik hints at a Swat-like operation in southern Punjab
“Now, for example, we suspect something similar [to Swat] may arise in south Punjab. We are sharing the information with Punjab. You know Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Jaish-e-Muhammad … all those people basically hail from that area. What we suspect [is] perhaps all those terrorists who fled from Waziristan or Swat might take refuge in south Punjab,” the Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying.
Jamaat now fears operation in southern Punjab
Secretray General Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Liaquat Baloch, has said the statement of Interior Minister Rehman Malik about Taliban’ presence in the southern Punjab indicates the government’s decision about launching an operation there.

Operation Blue Tulsi: How India Approached Israel For Help Against Pakistan
Despite the AQ origin of this story I think there is some credibility in it.
I came across the same story a few months ago when Balochistan turmoil began. The Mossad and RAW fingerprints were all over for anyone to see.
In the grand design they want to cut Punjab to size. Although I am in support of creating smaller administrative units now is the wrong time. The enemies of Pakistan want us to be so engaged with our internal issues that we ignore what is going on around us so that they get a free hand in implementing their agenda.

Investigative Reporter Seymour Hersh Describes ‘Executive Assassination Ring’
By Eric Black
March 12, 2009 — “MinnPost” — Published Wed, Mar 11 2009 — At a “Great Conversations” event at the University of Minnesota last night, legendary investigative reporter Seymour Hersh may have made a little more news than he intended by talking about new alleged instances of domestic spying by the CIA, and about an ongoing covert military operation that he called an “executive assassination ring.”
Hersh spoke with great confidence about these findings from his current reporting, which he hasn’t written about yet.
In an email exchange afterward, Hersh said that his statements were “an honest response to a question” from the event’s moderator, U of M Political Scientist Larry Jacobs and “not something I wanted to dwell about in public.”
Hersh didn’t take back the statements, which he said arise from reporting he is doing for a book, but that it might be a year or two before he has what he needs on the topic to be “effective…that is, empirical, for even the most skeptical.”
The evening of great conversation, featuring Walter Mondale and Hersh, moderated by Jacobs and titled “America’s Constitutional Crisis,” looked to be a mostly historical review of events that have tested our Constitution, by a journalist and a high government officials who had experience with many of the crises.
And it was mostly historical, and a great conversation, in which Hersh and Mondale talked about the patterns by which presidents seem to get intoxicated by executive power, frustrated by the limitations on that power from Congress and the public, drawn into improper covert actions that exceed their constitutional powers, in the belief that they can get results and will never be found out. Despite a few references to the Founding Fathers, the history was mostly recent, starting with the Viethnam War with much of it arising from the George W. Bush administration, which both men roundly denounced.
At the end of one answer by Hersh about how these things tend to happen, Jacobs asked: “And do they continue to happen to this day?”
Replied Hersh:
“Yuh. After 9/11, I haven’t written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it. They haven’t been called on it yet. That does happen.
“Right now, today, there was a story in the New York Times that if you read it carefully mentioned something known as the Joint Special Operations Command — JSOC it’s called. It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently. They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. They did not report to the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff or to Mr. [Robert] Gates, the secretary of defense. They reported directly to him. …
“Congress has no oversight of it. It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on. Just today in the Times there was a story that its leaders, a three star admiral named [William H.] McRaven, ordered a stop to it because there were so many collateral deaths.
“Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us.
“It’s complicated because the guys doing it are not murderers, and yet they are committing what we would normally call murder. It’s a very complicated issue. Because they are young men that went into the Special Forces. The Delta Forces you’ve heard about. Navy Seal teams. Highly specialized.
“In many cases, they were the best and the brightest. Really, no exaggerations. Really fine guys that went in to do the kind of necessary jobs that they think you need to do to protect America. And then they find themselves torturing people.
“I’ve had people say to me — five years ago, I had one say: ‘What do you call it when you interrogate somebody and you leave them bleeding and they don’t get any medical committee and two days later he dies. Is that murder? What happens if I get before a committee?’
“But they’re not gonna get before a committee.”
Hersh, the best-known investigative reporter of his generation, writes about these kinds of issues for The New Yorker. He has written often about JSOC, including, last July that:
“Under the Bush Administration’s interpretation of the law, clandestine military activities, unlike covert C.I.A. operations, do not need to be depicted in a Finding, because the President has a constitutional right to command combat forces in the field without congressional interference.”
(“Finding” refers to a special document that a president must issue, although not make public, to authorize covert CIA actions.)
DAWN has been started “campaign” for operation in southern Punjab more than two month before.
South Punjab sees Taliban connection as stigma

Tuesday, 26 May, 2009 | 01:34 PM PST |:Wrong address,’ cry out the people in south Punjab as they receive another journalist arriving to look for Taliban and terrorists in their midst…..
and then
“The NWFP government is anxious because it believes that ‘fresh recruits’ for militant groups challenging its writ are coming mostly from the southern districts of Punjab — D.G. Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, etc……”
I would not be surprised if after one year there would be operation on Margalla Hills and in Kahota areas. Kiani, zardari along with sharif bradran are just doing sh..t job for US and giving way to American for damaging Nuclear Program. and for these mo..er f..kers’ plan, DAWN is playing a media partner’s role.
NS is really turning out to be a B@stard
His role has been dubious from day one. He is an opportunist by nature and he will NOT change, but off course the Pakistani masses will/(want to) be deceived once again since he will most probably win the next elections
Have Pakistanis in general lost the ability to look through such crooks?
I will not be hasty to use strong words like B@astard for NS.
Theres a lot more behind than it looks like.
NS originally from his fragile position gradually gaining strength…now he is counted for.
Accused of friendly opposition but nevertheless he is like a sword of constant fear on Zardari, who replaced BB as the agent of neoconservative Zionists in Pakistan.
@Zahid, I can understand your frustration. They are all selling their souls. But the question I keep asking myself is what can we do or rather what should we do?
Of course not doing anything and just following them is not an option.
1st of welcome back missed u around here.
Lemme say ‘mere piya ghar aaya ooo rami ji;)” though alas am not like madhuri and u ant no yosef-e-sani urself so cool hai lol.
2nd I have no idea who AQ is and what he has done. I usually search google if i wana get some news and if it matches i post it. Could u plz temme what this guy has done? Cuz I really have no idea u have to understand I started getting back into pak politics like 2 yrs ago learning everything again. Not everyone is as informed as u oooo wise one:).
Beside even if i dun like someone or dun agree with someone dun mean that particular someone wont say something atleast once which I would agree with. eg, I dun agree with Mushahid Hussain on some issues but I always am willing to listen to him same with Sheikh Rasheed I know ppl hate them but I still listen to them dun means I agree with them.
Regarding policy matters u can read my comment thanking naseem zhera for so eloquently defending pak in Baluch Uni.
Personally I don’t know much about the truth behind all the these stories, and that’s why I mostly avoid commenting on such stories, but it’s good that you have a better knowledge about what is behind the scene.
Bugti was a wadera, but to handle the issue like that i.e. with violence and thus fuelling the whole issue was STUPID. There are certainly better ways to handle the situation than saying “we will hit and you wouldn’t know what hit you”. The case should have been handled much better and violence should be avoided. I suppose there is no doubt that the wadera system should be history asap – be it in any province.
^^@nota
@nota & afzaal
Ahmad Qureshi (AQ) was one of the leading Mushy apologist and for that reason alone lacks credibility in my eyes.
However there is other evidence of Mossad and RAW involvement in the Baluchistan issue and I am sure we can put together a more credible article.
BTW cud not reach u pls email me ur phone number again.
@tauqeer
so he was mushy apologist, big deal, most awwam distributed mithai when mushy took over. There are lot of journalist who are bhutto apologists. Thats no criteria for not listening to someone atleast for me. Its not like the raw and mossad involvement is only mentioned by him.
@Afzaal
“so he was mushy apologist, big deal, most awwam distributed mithai when mushy took over.”
Both were wrong, but I dare say that people in high positions and people who are supposed to raise a voice has a bigger responsibility. In that sense it is wrong to compare the ordinary citizen (awam) with a man who deliberately spread disinformation.
@afzaal I think you misunderstand me. I am making the exact point you are making.
I must admit I don’t watch Duniya TV (Najam Sethi one reason). But just watched Policy matters. The Baluchs have a genuine problem but all the points raised by Maingal about oppression could be applied to any ethnic group in Pakistan.
and thats my point jigz, y is that baluch and sindhi always start with separation in guise of provincial autonomy, an ordinary punjabi in Punjab suffers as much as a an ordinary baluchi, sindhi or pakhtun. How abt urdu speaking where the whole Pakistan has left the whole urdu speaking population on the mercy of MQM?
Informative speech of “Madammmm” Hillary Clinton about US’s Next plan against “terrorism” parhye aur sar dhanieeee
She said
“In Afghanistan and Pakistan, our goal is to disrupt, dismantle, and ultimately defeat Al Qaeda and its extremist allies and to prevent their return to either country. Yet Americans often ask why do we ask our young men and women to risk their lives in Afghanistan when Al Qaeda’s leadership is in neighboring Pakistan?
That question deserves a good answer. We and our allies fight in Afghanistan because the Taliban protects Al Qaeda and depends on it for support, sometimes, coordinating activities. In other words, to eliminate Al Qaeda, we must also fight the Taliban. Now, we understand that not all those who fight with the Taliban support Al Qaeda or believe in the extremist policies the Taliban pursued when in power.
And, today, we and our Afghan allies stand ready to welcome anyone supporting the Taliban who renounces Al Qaeda, lays down their arms, and is willing to participate in the free and open society that is enshrined in the Afghan constitution. To achieve our goals, President Obama is sending an additional 17,000 troops and 4,000 military trainers to Afghanistan. “
Ahmad Qureshi is not the one for whom you both put yourselves on fire
Leave AQ and find zardari and kiani’s @s* lickers’s journalists
@ Zahid
starting with nazir naji and athar abbas lol
The American’s policy in after 9/11 is based on self deception.
The cause of the 9/11 attacks was the extreme anger behind Israeli- Palestinian conflict as that is what was responsible for Muhammad Atta and his gang- planning and carrying out that event.
So the rational and logical approach would have been to resolve the issue which led to the events on 9/11. Not only they decided not to deal with that- instead they have created the war in Afghanistan under the assumption of attacking and eliminating Al-Qaida. Hillary Clinton can say whatever she wishes- but she still is not willing to face the dynamics on the ground . They will not be able to “disrupt, dismantle, and ultimately defeat Al Qaeda and its extremist allies ” because they still are not willing to tackle the core issues which give the extremists legitimacy in the Muslim world- namely Palestine and Kashmir and other issues.
As long as the Americans -( and India etc)-do not deal with the core issues- they will fail in tackling he extremists in an effective manner. The history of the past 9 years in Afghanistan and Pakistan-( Iraq)- is the harbinger of things to come.
Hey guys stop fighting over AQ, he surely is crap..AQ is ISI’s baby but what he says against India is based on facts and thats the only thing I like to read.
Please excuse my absence, I reached Karachi yesterday and my house is completely flooded after this horrible rain in Karachi. My main drain pipe broke and the water entered my house. I am still cleaning not to mention no electricity for 18 hours. Bhaio pray for me.Sob! Sob!.
