NAM Joint Statement – Another win for India?
Vote: Who benefited from the joint statement at NAM?
Full Text: India-Pakistan statement
Our leaders, who have been begging for talks with India for the last several months, are presenting Thursday’s meeting between Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Dr. Manmohan Singh as a big diplomatic achievement. There seems to be a sense of jubilation among governmental circles with spokesmen of different sorts describing the meeting as a breakthrough in relations between the two countries.
But should they be elated? The statement states that “Action on terrorism should not be linked to the Composite Dialogue process and these should not be bracketed“, PM Manmohan Singh shortly came out and said no dialogue till Mumbai attacks cases been resolved, even if we put that statement aside, the same accord was done between Musharraf and Bajbai and we saw India suspended talks and broke off relations after Mumbai attacks. So what will this new accord accomplish, another terrorist attack and we will be back to square one. And why is that India get to break off relationships and stop dialogues at her choosing why can’t tha Pakistani governemnt do same when we know for a fact Indian state involvement in Baluchistan and FATA?
By not mentioning Kashmi, India wins again, why is that when it comes to terrorism India wants whole world involved but when it comes to Kashmir its either the crap “aTooT ang” or its a bilateral issue, if all conflicts between India and Pakistan are bilateral only they why in God name we have to talk about terrorism on the world stage?
The leaders tells us its a diplomatic victory for Pakistan because of this line in statement “Prime Minister Gilani mentioned that Pakistan has some information on threats in Balochistan and other areas.”, and what was the response of India, zilch nada nothing. But on the other hand once again Pakistan has agreed that Pakistan will do everything to fight terrorism while India will judge and garde us.
India is treating us not like an equal but as someone who should be dictated and do what we have been told. I donot understand this mentality of Pakistan’s leaders and media who keep asking India for dialogue. To acheive what? As a regular Pakistani I really don’t care about the dimplatic nusiances and what is victory and who got better of whom. All I care is why we not talking abt Kashmir which is the root of the problem. No matter what Pakistan do, western media and leaders don’t care. The name calling, the absolute humiliation continues, now we are not Pakistan we are just AF-Pak, and the fault lies with our leaders. Pakistan has done the begging how abt now trying a different tack. How about saying enough is enough. If India doesn’t want to talk we don’t want to talk. If the world want us on the table then 1st and the only issue Pakistan will discuss is Kashmir and water. Every other issue comes after that. We donot want war, but we being killed by Indian paid so called talibaans and our land is being parched by systemic violation of all bilateral and international accord.
So instead of begging for dialogue lets start saying no dialogue, till we can discuss core issues. Otherwise we will chart our own course and we will set our own priorities.

oh yeee fool dun u know that honorable president has given the fatwa, India is not our enemy.

I am a bit surprised by all this hoopla about a non event which means nothing.
Imagine the absurdity of the news media and the news blogs as this one-
An emasculated so-called prime minister of a discredited country where thieves and crooks rule- meets with the prime minister of a very large over populated and very poor country with strong economy and talk about sweet nothings while smiling.
This is no different than the TV news in India where the big news of every day is what is going to happen on the daily soap operas !
@shimatoree You are spot on! Whenever any of our hapless imbecile leaders goes on a foreign trip I am always concerned about what new issue are the morons going to compromise on.
It does matter, as to what Pakistan looses more due to this diplomatic crap. The statement of again accepting the blame of Mumbai Attacks and so called terrorism with again pushing Kashmir in back burner hurts Pakistan. Also its another step to move army from Indian border and allow India free hand.
It does not matter. Period.
All the statements of all the leaders of the world do not mean anything anymore since those that are supposed to react and take care are already in their pay and are their lackeys.
What India or anyone says about Bombay does not matter. The answer should have been- if you want to stop future Bombay incidents- give the Kashmiris their right of self determination.
Regardless what the Indians or the castrated Pakistani leadership does- the issue of terrorism will remain as long as the Indians continue their state terrorism in Kashmir by their Army.
Afzaal- the problem is Zardari , Gilani and NS not what India or anyone else wants.
“Afzaal- the problem is Zardari , Gilani and NS not what India or anyone else wants.”
Exactly, you can only negotiate IF you have a solid stand point (and we have it if will to use is there) and the nation is behind you i.e. determined approach. Then India or any other nation playing with the sentiments of Pakistanis will know for sure that it/they can not only bark, but have to make concession, but if the purpose is to survive for short term “solutions” like the former and present governments then we will go only one way…further down.
Personally I only see one personality in politics who can talk to anyone without being submissive, but will he ever be able to serve Pakistan at that level? I doubt it very much.
Let us talk seriously about serious matters and not just for the sake of discussion.
@shimatoree
Dun blame leadership, leadership comes from the people, jaisi rooh waisey farishtey
Afzaal
The people should be blamed IF they chose the Leaders.
But they did not even though a so-called election took place.
Democracy should be when the people get to DECIDE.
The crookery and deciet and manipulation and bribes- and you call this an election. If we are going to yearn for some sort of idealistic world then let us stay with that . I do not wish to waste time or space in commenting on the present set up- the less said the better.
Time is for surgery NOW. The euphoria of this so-called democracy as though it is a save it all for everything is imagination on marijuana and LSD !
@ shimatoree
Am not talking about elections, elections basically were faiir in a sense that they more or less reflected people’s choice. Why is that all survey showing NS as most popular leader? Whom we gonna blame for that if not the awwam? Why is that people more then willing to elect mullah diesel over JI? Thats not establishment’s fault its peopl’s fault.
@ Afzaal
You are correct in a way- but pray tell me-
Are the SHEEP responsible for behaviour of the guy who takes them from place to place ?
This whole charade of elections in Pakistan is just that a charade.Regarding Nawaz Shareef- I am so thoroughly disgusted that I do not wish to say anything on him or his party. Suffice it to say that he is no different than Zardari or Fazlu. Pakistan is in much bigger trouble than anyone understands and there is no light at end of this tunnel.
Musharraf was told by the troops-(junior officers-Corps commanders) that the Kargil withdrawl was not acceptable and some one’s head had to roll. Musharraf-( and his senior generals) saved their skins and sacrificed Nawaz Shareef.
@shimatoree
os khait ke her Khosha-e-gundum ko jala do
It is awwam’s responsibility when they dun have electricity they come out, jab pait par laat partee they out, when some 3rd rate phateechar siyasat daan calls for hartaal they come out. If they can do all that then shouldn’t they be able to back the leader who cares abt them? We hear over n over how majority wants Islamic system of justice and blah blah reminds me wat Hadrath Hussain was told.
Koofey waloon ke dil aapkey saath magar talwarain yazeed ke saath.
More talks about talks?
