The Lion That Meows

The Lion That Meows

Despite all the incompetence, the short comings and the sheer idiocy of this ruling junta of thugs, the question one should be asking is where is the opposition? And when I ask where is the opposition I mean the elected Member of Parliaments, not the one sitting outside, because all they can do is make “Rolla” which they doing MASHAALLAH. What is the parliamentary opposition doing, specifically the exalted, the most popular, the lion of Punjab Mr. Nawaz Sharif?

We last saw Mr. Sharif leading the March when deal was already struck and the die was cast, the superb media relationship machine of Mr. Sharif portrayed him as a lion that roared and everyone ran away. We all know the truth so let’s not dwell on it.

While the government goes berserk and the country lurches from one crisis to another, what exactly Mr. Sharif and by extension his party is doing in these testing times. The silent of Mr. Sharif is criminal. The political games being played by Mr. Sharif and his party are nothing to marvel at but are to despise and he should not be hailed but pilloried for his stance on everything. Take your pick from the issue of swat, so called war on terrorism, economy to the debacle of carbon tax. Mr. Sharif and his party have shown over and over that they don’t care. Bottom line for them is how it will benefit us politically and to hell with awwam.

Couple it with the scandals after scandals of PML – N Members, from Shumaila Rana case to this gem.

Rana

Another clear example of that is carbon tax, while in the parliament the budget was passed with unanimous consent, Mr. Sharif then used his surrogate to challenge the carbon tax in the Supreme Court. Thus playing both side beautifully. If PML-N had such issue with the carbon tax why in God’s name did they support the budget? Which included the carbon tax? The reality of the matter is PML-N was looking for some cheap political points. We are told by PML-N that they don’t agree with Government policies on range of issues but whenever a bill is presented by the government strangely PML-N votes yes in the parliament.

The hypocrisy of PML-N is really something to marvel at. It was not a few months ago when the root of the problem was NRO, today the NRO is not an issue. Yesterday Zardari was root of all evil and today he is a guest at raiwand. Time after time PML-N has remained silent on all national issue, except for providing vague assurances and talking points in media. Today the 17th Amendment is the root cause of all evil, but what PML-N is doing to rebuff it, we have no idea. Seeing all this, one has to conclude that Mr. Sharif just playing the waiting game i.e. waiting for his turn to govern this country. There is no noble agenda, there is no altruistic goal it’s just plain old political power grab, waiting for right moment to step up and get elected with a majority.

We hear from PML-N, that it is because they want system to work, democracy to flourish and the way to do it is to abdicate its responsibility as a vibrant opposition. Could Mr. Sharif and his party explain how being an opposition will derail the democracy? And what does it all means, does it means a corrupt government has to be allowed to corrupt the whole country, loot it of all its resources, sell its sovereignty, allow irreparable damage to be done to the nation and all the while opposition should just sit silently by because to speak up i.e. to do the job of being an effective opposition will means derailing the system? What a load of crap.

It is funny that the system was not in danger of being derailed neither was the democracy the so called razia surrounded by thugs, when it was the Punjab government being dismissed by Mr. Zardari’s crony and PML-N had stage violent protests all over the Punjab. Neither, it derailed the system nor the democracy, when Mr. Sharif decided to lead the long march knowing full well a little confrontation could plunge the country into a bloody chaos. At both times it was beneficial to Mr. Sharif and his political party to do so and they reaped the benefits.

To make sure to silence anyone who decides to reveal this hypocrisy is the blatant example of intimidation of journalists. Time after time, on talk shows PML-N members have been accusing the media of being a power. Same accusations that Mushy and his cronies labelled at media. This all came to head when at the beginning of Swat operation Rauf Klasra started blasting PML-N for playing politics at the time of national crisis. PML-N used their proxies and we all know what happened to Rauf Klasra how the website ran by a PML-N crony came out with tehelka.com like exclusive accusing Rauf Klasra as the source of all corruption and what was the evidence he has given a plot? Now am not fan of Rauf Klasra but I seriously doubt one single plot could buy him and that which was given to him by ex-govt under rules and regulations. Mr. Klasra has defended himself so I dun need to rage about it, I just wanted to cite this incident as an example of real face of PML –N.

Simply put Mr. Sharif is not a lion; he is just another hyena, a jackal trying to fool the junta. Few days ago I came across clip of Mr. Shehbaz Sharif singing Habib Jalib’s poem “Main nahi Manta”. Let me say to Nawaz and company,

Tum nay looTa hai sadyoon humara sukoon
Abb na hum par chaley ga tumhara fusoon
Chara_gur main tumhain kis tarah se kahoon
Main nahi manta, main nahi janta

(Habib Jalib’s Main Nahi Manta)
