Democracy at its best

The Democratic government keep giving gifts to the nation. If you recall the genius Interior Minister Rehman Malik wanted to monitor all the sms as they were badmouthing his masters, the genius Minister wanted it to be punishable by life imprisonment.

After the hue and cry the PM shut down the project, or did they? Express news now reporting a new bill by Government which will not only monitors all sms, but will also go on and monitor all landlines, mobile lines and all forms of telecommunication. The bill not only facilitate the monitoring but also will allow recording and data saving of all forms of Telecommunication. This will allow the government to basically listen to everything and punish anything they don’t like. That this is balatant violation of human rights is something am sure can be brushed aside as we are after all engage in fight of our survival aka War on terror. It is said absolute power corrupts absolutely, it appears with PPP doesn’t matter how much power one thing is sure they will be absolutely corrupt. Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) has asked for recommendations by 16th September, 2009. You can read the proposed draft by PTA on thier website here.
