Altaf Hussain calls for Martial Law

GEO: Altaf says ‘MQM to endorse martial law against corrupt politicians’

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain Sunday said his party will support patriotic Army generals’ steps like Martial Law if taken against corrupt politicians.

In his telephonic address to MQM workers here in Azizabad from London, the MQM Chief urged what he called patriotic generals ‘to initiate Martial Law like steps against unscrupulous politicians.’

Altaf Hussain demanded initiation of criminal case on charges of mass murder against feudal lords and landlords who diverted floods to save their crops towards localities/villages of the poor.

“Landlords and feudals always created hurdles for the poor and middle class, keeping them from coming forward in politics,” he maintained, adding that the political stalwarts seem hell bent on disintegrating the country.

He said the country is in desperate need of change like French Revolution and that MQM by stirring such a revolution will make an example of trepidation out of the landlords, feudals and capitalists.

Altaf Hussain said pockets of religious parties and Army generals were stuffed with dollars during Soviet led war in Afghanistan while orphan Mujahideens are becoming fuel for the Taliban.

He urged US President Barrack Obama to review his policy and to stand by the masses instead of landlords.

ARY: Imran Khan backs army rule, too

After MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s statement regarding support for martial law-like steps, the chief of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said his faction would back military rule for ‘stability’ of the country, ARY NEWS reports.

Speaking ARY NEWS’ program ‘View on News’, hosted by Dr Shahid Masood, the PTI chief said the country is moving towards revolution and PTI will support it in every possible way.

He joined MQM chief’s chorus regarding support of Martial Law in the country, saying that “Tehrik-e-Insaf will back military rule in the country for the sake of stability.”

Khan, however, said the army should not come into power and grab authorities of a civil and democratic government.

He was of the view that 2008’s general elections in Pakistan held only to succeed US-led war against terrorism in the region.

On Sunday, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief demanded to ‘patriotic generals to take action similar to martial law against corrupt politicians’, saying that a civilian set-up must be supported over a military rule.

Almost every ruling and opposition parties have opposed Hussain’s statement and expressed concern over it.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcast Qamar Zaman Kaira denounced the statement, saying it is against Constitution and people’s will.

The chief of his own faction of Pakistan Muslim League, Mian Nawaz Sharif on Monday termed the statement as ‘map of Pakistan’s destruction’.

I listened to Imran Khan’s interview. He did not ask for martial law. And in fairness Altaf Hussain asked for action against corrupt politicians.

While I don’t want Army to take over I think there is need for going to the people.

    @taukeer

Come on man Kaliya asking a patriotic general to get rid of corrupt politicians is basically asking 4 Martial law cuz ant no way anyone can prove corruption in our justice system. And why asking some “patriotic General” to do the deed its simple, if there r corrupt politicians then they must be in the coalition govt that MQM is part of and if they mean oppo they have also been passed allies. Since 1998 except for one bycott MQM has been part and parcel of every govt, MQM itself is now part of establishment. How abt this since govt is responsible for everything MQM cut deal with PML – N and other allies on issue of corruption and force govt to call mid-term election. Calling a Patriotic general to do the deed is BS, and so is IK’s stupid argument. While I will vote for IK over every other party he has consistently shown he has no sense of politics.

Then again the kaliya bayan n subsequent IK statement does hint that IK shall be next PM in a setup thats been pushed by establishment. ZPP has lost all its credibility and PML – N is stuck in Punjab so I guess a coalition of Nationalistic and small parties let by IK would be the next solution by the establishment who wants neither ZPP nor PML – N. would be interesting to see MQM-PRI coalition.

    Good TK

“If our establishment let’s Pakistan’s state to be whored for another war against it’s neighbours”

Don’t be so naive and inspired by third rated wrtitten article made as headline by PK Politics.
Its cheap Journalism to analyse on trivial details like Zardari share same faith as Iran or against wahabi Saudia or brelvi Altaf.
So waht we are told Zardari is man of faith and character who can stand by Iran and brelvi Altaf would join hands with wahabi Saudia with Pakistani establishments to stand a war againsst Iraan…..These cheap analysis contradict within itself thats the main characterstic of cheap Journalism.
